EMV Universe Roadshow
Q1 & Q2 2012

ACT Canada is preparing a one-day EMV Universe Roadshow ("Roadshow") that will travel to five events in the US. The Roadshow is focused on sharing experiences and learnings gained through Canada's migration to EMV. This Roadshow will be appended to existing US industry events targeted at relevant payments industry stakeholders. ACT has identified five events in Q1 and Q2 2012 that present excellent opportunities for ACT members to showcase their expertise, and exchange key learnings from the Canadian migration to EMV.

How To Make Mobile Commerce & Payment a Reality:

Lessons Learned from Interac, Mondex, e-Commerce and EMV at Cardware 2012: Payment Insights

Mobile payment is still floundering when it should be flourishing.  Because despite 12 years of navel-gazing and false starts, we have not yet achieved anything close to a vibrant North American mobile commerce market.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Once we understand the key factors contributing to the success or failure of four previous Canadian payment innovations, it’s easy to apply to these insights to m-commerce.

At Cardware 2012: Payment Insights you will -

Learn why:

  • Interac POS Debit was an unexpected success
  • Mondex e-cash was an unexpected failure
  • e-Commerce is a mediocre success with untapped potential, and
  • EMV triumphed despite few initial fans.

These four payment initiatives will be critiqued from the perspective of business case drivers, value proposition, partner engagement, timing, and challenges with infrastructure and standards. With the parallels drawn, the lessons learned for m-commerce and m-payment become clear.

By the end of the session, delegates will know:

  • Business case drivers for all stakeholders.
  • When and how to engage partners.
  • How to address infrastructure and standards.
  • The consumer value proposition.
  • Timing and consumer relevance considerations.

Both Canadians and Americans will leave the session armed with a new framework and practical insights to bring m-commerce to the mainstream.  Right now.

HOLD THE DATE

Plan to join us on June 19th and 20 in Niagara Falls for this strategic look at a market that we all want to flourish.  More information on the program, speakers and additional tracks will be issued in the coming weeks.
