About Membership

ACT Canada is the stakeholder association, focused on secure payment, secure identity management and other advanced applications. This covers a broad range of interfaces and form factors.

Now in our 20th year, we are the authority on the Canadian market, supporting our members and helping them attain their goals through working with key stakeholders.

We help members understand the market, public and private sector applications and potential barriers. We facilitate knowledge transfer and thought leadership through neutral forums, and we expand our members’ networks. Through this and our many programs, we help members increase revenues, reduce costs and reduce and manage risks.

Founded in 1989, ACT Canada is a non-profit membership association.

Principal members are key players and represent issuers, acquirers, suppliers and other organizations with significant interests in secure payment, secure identity management and other advanced applications and technologies.

General members are active participants and represent issuers, acquirers, suppliers and other organizations with significant interests in secure payment, secure identity management and other advanced applications and technologies.

Small to Medium Size Enterprises (SME) members are small to medium Canadian enterprises interested in sourcing information, networking, increasing sales and exportability. It is designed for organizations with annual funding/sales of less than ten million dollars.

Government members represent federal, provincial and municipal agencies interested in secure identity management for data or physical access, citizen facing programs or international travel. They may also have an interest in secure payment and other advanced applications, technology, standards and related policy.

Retailer members are interested in EMV, secure payment, loyalty and other advanced applications, technology, standards and business related issues.

Associate members
This affiliation is designed for organizations/individuals interested in advanced applications and technologies as well as market opportunities and challenges but who do not supply or purchase advanced card technology products or services; and have no more than 15 employees. Associations whose members meet the aforementioned qualifications are exempt from the 15-employee rule. This affiliation is also available to independent consultants (single person consultancies).
